I have been involved with a wide variety of projects ranging from high-traffic online stores to small business websites. If you have read my bio you will know that I am the Webmaster for Identity Group, LLC. In that role I have developed and lead several important e-commerce efforts for large customers including the United States Postal Service, Staples.com, and OfficeMax.com.
OfficeMax Impress®
As Webmaster for Identity Group, LLC I have been in charge of the technical implementation for our major e-commerce projects during the last 10 years.
I could literally write a book on all the technology that goes into the OfficeMax Impress project for Identity Group. But my non-disclosure agreement prevents this so I will be brief.
This website is a source for custom stamps, signs, and banners to OfficeMax.com customers. These customers can choose from various sizes of products, customize their design and text in the interactive Flash designer, see a real-time preview of their order, and submit their order for next day delivery.
I am the co-inventor of the patent for this system.
Warren Ward Associates
Warren Ward Associates had an existing website when we partnered to solve some of the issues. I helped Warren Ward create a functional newsletter sign-up and redesigned his Blog to match the look of his main website.
I will be continuing my efforts around re-designing for search engine optimization and keyword marketing.
Cincinnati Bass Cellar
The Cincinnati Bass Cellar came to me with a number of issues to solve. First and foremost was their SEO ranking using a Flash based website. Because Google does not index Flash websites very well, the Bass Cellar was losing valueable page rank for their keywords. Also, the Bass Cellar needed to expand their advertising into social networking areas such as Facebook and Blogging.
I assisted the Bass Cellar by re-engineering their website for SEO optimization. This included breaking out major sections from Flash into CSS-based HTML. Additionally, I created a stunning image gallery to feature their shop basses. We finished up by building a custom Facebook Business Page that included extended information and a custom FBML Tab to feature their current inventory. SeanMckelvie.com is continuing to serve the Cincinnati Bass Cellar as Webmaster and Admin of the Facebook page.
Edinburgh Pixy Theatre
Edinburgh Pixy Theatre is a newly renovated show house in historic downtown Edinburgh. This project included a brand-new website design with an emphasis on the building's historical character. I have built an entire section devoted to the theatre's calendar of events which is automatically updated based on passage of time (a real money saver for the client). Additionally, we have engineered galleries to show off the building as a venue for Weddings and Events.
Richard Hawes Insurance
Richard Hawes Insurance had a very specific advertising need which was to optimize their placement in Google "local business results" for certain keywords. In order to accomplish this I created their Google business listing profile, added listings to various online "Yellow Pages" directories, and performed on-site optimizations including re-working of the footer to include street address and contact information.
In the end, we found 100% success and now Richard Hawes Insurance enjoys first page placement for "auto insurance" keyword searches in Columbus Indiana. See here for results.
Magnus Music Shop
Magnus Music Shop is a work-in-progress. It is an online string instrument shop based on Zen Cart. The features include turn-key website hosting and search engine marketing. We will be using social networking tools such as Twitter and Facebook to grow traffic on this website.
